Driver at OffroadPal
Filip drives the UAE desert most weekends, and OffroadPal grew out of those drives. The guides on this site are built two ways, and we would rather say which than blur them: the coordinates and difficulty grades come from the app's own data, set by the drivers who actually go to these places — and the rest is researched against government sources, official listings and published records, with each page naming what it checked and printing what it could not establish.
Some of these places Filip knows first-hand; several are researched rather than driven, including ones outside the UAE. We used to claim every guide described somewhere he had personally been. That was more than the pages themselves ever said, so it is gone. Where a page rests on his own driving, it will say so on the page.
Why OffroadPal exists
Plenty of people in the UAE own a capable 4x4 and never take it off the road, because the first drive is the hard one — you don't know where to start, what the sand asks of your car, or who to go with. OffroadPal is the thing that would have made that first drive easier.
