A convoy of 4x4s parked in a semicircle on the dunes at sunset while the group gathers for a briefing Dubai · your own car · zero experience needed

Learn to drive the desert.
In your own 4x4.

You bought the car. The dunes are 40 minutes away. The only thing missing is someone to show you how, properly, in the car you already own. That's this course.

Who it's for

Who is this course for?

  • You just bought a Jetour T2, a first Patrol, a Prado, or any capable 4x4
  • You've never driven it on sand
  • No off-road experience needed. We start at zero
  • No gear required beyond the car itself

If you've ever thought "I should take this car into the desert, but I don't know where to start", this is where you start.

The skills

What will you actually learn?

  1. Setting your car up for sand. Airing down to the right pressure, what your traction settings actually do, and why a standard 4x4 is more capable than you think.
  2. Driving technique. Momentum, throttle control, reading the sand ahead, and how to climb and descend dunes smoothly.
  3. When it goes wrong. Getting unstuck calmly, plus the decisions that keep you out of trouble in the first place.
  4. Driving with others. Convoy basics, so your first drives after the course are with people, not alone.

You leave having driven your first real dunes. You also leave with your tyre pressures written down for your exact car, and beginner spots in the OffroadPal app that you already know how to handle.

Low morning sun raking across dune ridges with fresh tyre tracks in the sand
Dawn start: cool sand, low sun, and the dunes to yourself.

Ask about private coaching

Your own 4x4, beginner-graded desert near Dubai, and an instructor with you from the first tyre deflation to your first real dune. Courses are run with a professional desert-driving instructor partner. We'll name the partner with the first confirmed dates.

Dates

When do the first courses run?

First courses · target window

October – November 2026

Dates open to the email list before they go public, and convoys are small, so places are limited. Tell us what you drive and we'll point you at the date that suits your car. We're finalising the schedule with our instructor partner now, so nothing is bookable on this page yet.

By signing up you agree to receive the OffroadPal newsletter by email: new UAE spot guides, course dates and app news. That's the only use — unsubscribe anytime, instantly.

The day

How a course day runs

Two SUVs parked at the edge of the dunes before a drive
Air down before you touch sand
A Jeep Wrangler descending a steep golden dune face
Dunes, one car at a time
Recovery boards under a pickup’s rear tyres as it climbs out of soft sand
Getting unstuck, calmly

Example day These times are an example. The exact plan comes with your booking confirmation.
  1. 06:45 Meet & convoy brief. Coffee, radios, what the day looks like.
  2. 07:15 Airing down. Your tyres, the right pressure for your car, and why it changes everything.
  3. 08:00 First sand. Flat terrain: throttle, momentum, reading the surface.
  4. 09:30 Dunes. Climbing, cresting and descending. Instructor-led, one car at a time.
  5. 11:00 Getting unstuck. We get you stuck on purpose. Then you get the car out yourself, and the fear goes.
  6. 12:00 Air up & debrief. Your pressures written down, your next three spots picked in the app.
Questions

Questions people actually ask

I have never driven off-road. Is this course for me?

Yes. This course was built for you. It assumes no off-road experience at all. You just bought a 4x4, or you finally want to use the one you have, and you don't know how to start. We begin with airing down your tyres. You finish by driving real dunes in your own car, with an instructor talking you through every step.

Do I need to modify my car first?

No. A standard 4x4 with low range or a proper off-road mode is all you need. A Jetour T2, a Prado, a Patrol, a Land Cruiser or a Wrangler is fine exactly as it came from the dealer. Learning what your car can already do is most of the point. If your car isn't suitable, we'll tell you before you book, not on the dune.

Is it my car or yours?

Yours, and that's on purpose. Confidence in someone else's prepared car does not carry over to your own. You learn the throttle, the seating position and the feel of the exact car you'll drive every weekend after.

What's the difference between the group course and private coaching?

The group course (AED 1,200) is a small convoy of beginners learning together. It costs less, and you leave with people to drive with afterwards. Private coaching (AED 2,500) gives you one instructor focused entirely on you, or on you and your family in one car. Your pace, your questions, your car.

When is the next course?

We're aiming for October–November 2026 for the first courses. No date is confirmed or bookable yet. Dates go to the email list first. Places are limited by convoy size, so the list chooses before anything is posted publicly. Join below and you'll hear the moment a date opens.

Where does it run?

In the desert outside Dubai, on beginner-graded terrain we drive every week. These are the same spots you'll find in the OffroadPal app afterwards. The exact meeting point and time come with your booking confirmation.
