How it works — 3 steps

  1. The brass clip connector locked onto a tyre valve.

1Clip 1 hose to each tyre valve.

  2. The digital gauge on the centre hub showing the pressure.

2Watch the gauge. The number goes down.

  3. The kit connected to all four wheels of a 4x4 in the desert.

3Stop at your number. All 4 tyres are equal.

1 compressor. 1 gauge. 4 hoses — 1 per wheel. Our own drawing.

Why drivers lower tyre pressure for sand

Desert drivers lower their tyre pressure before they drive on sand. A tyre with low pressure sits wider on the sand. A hard tyre cuts in. With 1 deflator you walk from tyre to tyre and guess. With this kit you stand in 1 place and watch 1 gauge.

Visualisation: a white 4x4 on the dunes, one green hose on each wheel, all four running to one gauge hub and a compressor.

What getting stuck costs

Driving on sand with hard tyres is the fastest way to get stuck. That is the first lesson in our air-down guide. Getting stuck costs you 3 things:

  • Your morningA car deep in soft sand means 1 hour with a shovel, in the heat.
  • Everybody's driveA convoy stops when you stop. The whole group waits for your recovery.
  • The day you came forTime spent stuck is time not spent driving.

Lowering tyre pressure is the biggest thing a beginner can do to stop getting stuck. It matters more than any part you can buy — including this one. The hoses do not grip the sand. The pressure does. This kit changes 1 thing: the habit becomes easy, so you do it every time. AED 625 does not buy a guarantee — nothing honest does. It buys this: you never have a reason to skip the 1 step that matters most.
